Holistic cooperation with new technologies and sustainable design

Optima has supported the development of a sustainable travel set for daily personal hygiene from renewable, fiber-based raw materials as a technology partner. The concept is named “Trific”. Successful cooperation throughout the entire value chain and new technologies have made this solution possible. In addition to Optima, the companies Holmen Iggesund, Yangi® and FutureLab & Partners also contributed to this project. The project intends to motivate brands to switch to sustainable packaging and will be introduced at Interpack. The packaging trade show begins on May 4 in Düsseldorf. Optima is presenting other sustainable packaging innovations alongside this.

Optima celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2022 under the motto "100 Years of Future", including an official ceremony with Baden-Württemberg's Minister-President Winfried Kretschmann in Schwäbisch Hall and many other activities. As of March 1, 2023, Hans Buehler, CEO of the Optima Group, will transfer responsibility for the business unit Optima Nonwovens to Dr. Stefan Koenig, Managing Director of OPTIMA packaging group GmbH. Dr. Koenig takes over the responsibility of all associated nonwovens units worldwide.

OPTIMA receives silver medal from EcoVadis

The EcoVadis rating agency has awarded Optima a silver medal for its core sustainability strategy "We care for tomorrow". This places the Optima Group in the top 25 percent of the companies rated by EcoVadis. The areas assessed were the environment, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. Optima's sustainability strategy is assessed annually by EcoVadis to identify new potential initiatives and promote existing activities.

Microdosing at its finest

A range of test formats are used in diagnostics to detect acute infection and prevent the uncontrolled spread of the SARS-CoV-2 pathogen. At the Marburg site, Siemens Healthineers have recently started a very high quality PCR test on an OPTIMA ImmuFill®. This machine achieves high precision reagent dosing into containers from a dosing volume of 50 µl upwards, and these are then closed and labelled.
