Review of a round table with OPTIMA experts

At the end of March, the German trade magazine Packaging Journal invited readers to a round table discussion in cyberspace. The invited guests were Optima experts Dominik Broellochs and Ulrich Burkart (both Group Sustainability Managers), packaging consultant Carolina Schweig, and from the packaging industry Timothy Glaz, Head of Corporate Affairs at Werner & Mertz with the well-known Frosch brand.

Dr. Stefan Koenig becomes Managing Director at OPTIMA packaging group

On March 1, 2021, Dr. Stefan Koenig will become Managing Director at OPTIMA packaging group GmbH. Together with Hans Buehler (Managing Director/CEO), Gerhard Breu (Chairman, Optima Pharma Division) and Jan Glass (CFO), Koenig will be responsible for continuing the development of the Optima Group. The primary focus will be on products and markets.

Support software by OPTIMA is awarded the Annual Multimedia Award 2021

With the "Remote Assist" software solution Optima has found the right answer to today's challenges. This was the conclusion of the jury for the digital creative competition "The Annual Multimedia Award", who conferred a silver award on the support software. Optima's software experts developed the application in cooperation with the Crailsheim-based digital agency Stoll von Gáti, and they nominated the innovative product for the Annual Multimedia Award. The Annual Multimedia Award is one of the digital industry's most important prizes.

OPTIMA and Voith establish development partnership

At the end of 2020, the Optima Group entered a development partnership with the technology group Voith. The objective of this alliance is to develop sustainable paper packaging solutions. It is the first time that two companies from different phases in the supply chain will be working together on developing environmentally compatible alternatives to plastic packaging.

Joining forces to fight COVID-19

Optima has pulled out all the stops to deliver a filling system to the US-based company Catalent at its Biologics facility in Bloomington, Indiana. The vial system with an isolator will be the second vial line installed at the site and is intended to be used initially for the filling of a candidate vaccine to fight COVID-19. For the first time in Optima’s company history, one of the world's cargo aircraft, the Antonov An-124, was chartered for transportation.

Microdosing at its finest

A range of test formats are used in diagnostics to detect acute infection and prevent the uncontrolled spread of the SARS-CoV-2 pathogen. At the Marburg site, Siemens Healthineers have recently started a very high quality PCR test on an OPTIMA ImmuFill®. This machine achieves high precision reagent dosing into containers from a dosing volume of 50 µl upwards, and these are then closed and labelled.
