OPTIMA underpins its sustainability strategy through a strategic shareholding with Weyhmueller

Optima entered into a strategic shareholding with Weyhmueller since mid June 2022, and has acquired a stake in the company. The mechanical engineering company from Neu-Ulm in Bavaria, Germany manufactures specialist machines for manufacturing cups and cans made out of paper. This extensively broadens Optima's portfolio of solutions in the sustainable packaging solutions sector.

Climate neutrality at German locations in OPTIMA’s anniversary year

OPTIMA will complement the existing sustainability strategy “We care for tomorrow” with a holistic environmental and climate strategy. For this, the company will be awarded the label "CO2-neutral company" of the Climate Protection Foundation Baden-Wuerttemberg by Dr. Patrick Rapp, State Secretary in the Ministry of Economics, Labor and Tourism in Baden-Wuerttemberg, during the presentation on June 02, 2022. Optima is thus the first private-sector company in Baden-Wuerttemberg to receive this label.

At its German headquarters, OPTIMA is investing in a state-of-the-art facility with over 4,000 square meters of space for assembly

As part of its 100th anniversary celebration on May 05, 2022, the Optima Group inaugurated the CSPE Center II. This way, the Optima Pharma Division is expanding its production area for assembling, commissioning, and qualifying pharmaceutical filling lines by over 4,000 square meters. Additional new office space has also been created. Minister-President Winfried Kretschmann traveled to the site especially for the inauguration.

OPTIMA pharma is expanding its service presence in the USA by opening a service hub in North Carolina

The Optima Group's Pharma business unit is massively expanding its service presence in the USA. The number of service personnel in the U.S. will triple between 2019 and the end of 2022. Mid-2022, Optima will be opening a new service hub in Knightdale near Raleigh, North Carolina. The service hub will be offering comprehensive services, systems' sales and spare parts, along with training. Optima’s goal is to expand capacity to meet the needs of pharma customers.

Packaging for the future

IDEA will be held in Miami from March 28 to 31, 2022. It is one of the most important industry meetings of the year for Optima's Nonwovens business unit. Here, visitors will have the opportunity to use a wide variety of materials to design the packaging concepts of the future. There will also be a welding station on display that will further improve the packaging design of hygienic products. Another focus is on sustainable packaging solutions for a functioning circular economy.

One of the world's largest cosmetics groups is looking for quick and agile solutions. New cosmetics are expected to be launched within days. “Due to a market that is strongly driven by influencers, we need quick response times,” according to the headquarters in France. The average delivery time for format parts is, however, actually eight to twelve weeks. Optima is supposed to manage that in just a few days. We are taking on the challenge.

OPTIMA collaborates with LANCOM Systems to develop a novel VPN solution for machines

The Optima Group from Schwaebisch Hall, Germany, has joined forces with cybersecurity specialist LANCOM Systems to develop a new type of VPN solution for machines and systems. As a result, it is now possible to establish an even more secure connection with the systems installed at the customer's site and maintain them remotely. The solution, which is the only one of its kind on the market, allows for VPN connections monitoring, protects the machine network at the customer's site with a firewall and is particularly user-friendly.

Microdosing at its finest

A range of test formats are used in diagnostics to detect acute infection and prevent the uncontrolled spread of the SARS-CoV-2 pathogen. At the Marburg site, Siemens Healthineers have recently started a very high quality PCR test on an OPTIMA ImmuFill®. This machine achieves high precision reagent dosing into containers from a dosing volume of 50 µl upwards, and these are then closed and labelled.
